Cook Healthy And Easy With The Veganbox.nl

Everyone knows about Hello Fresh and Marley Spoon. A weekly box with recipes and the exact amount of ingredients you need. The vegan box has the same principle but they only make plant-based recipes.

This box is ideal for busy people who want to eat healthier and more plant-based, but do not have the time to find it all out for themselves. With the box in the house, you can immediately go into the kitchen and follow the recipes. Most of the recipes take between 30 and 40 minutes.

Last week I received my first box and I was positively surprised. The box arrived on a Tuesday night. That same day I received a message from PostNL with the time of delivery within a time window of one hour. In case you are not home, you can ask the postman to leave the box at one of your neighbors or even under the chair of the front garden.

Quickly I unpacked the bags and everything looked neat and fresh. The box contained three vegan recipes with the exact amount of ingredients for two people. Most of them were organic. And what I liked a lot, is that most ingredients are wrapped in paper. My box only had a few ingredients wrapped in plastic.veganbox.nl

From the recipes, I started with the gyros from the brand Vleesch Noch Visch. Normally, I don’t eat much meat replacements. But this gyros I will definitely like to eat again. The tzatziki made the dish very tasty. This recipe was the easiest of the box to make.Vegan gyros Vlesch noch Visch The next recipe was a yellow curry with crispy cauliflower. Curries are one of my favorite dishes. With this recipe, I learned how to make it different from how I normally cook it. The crispy cauliflower was a nice touch. I will use it for wraps or tacos as well.

The last recipe of the box was the one I was, in the first place, the less enthusiastic about. But this one surprised me the most: Pearl couscous with roasted pumpkin and cranberries. This was absolutely my personal favorite of the box. I never tasted a dish like this before.Pearl couscous with pum

The vegan box is a great initiative to help people that want to start with a vegan lifestyle but don’t know how. The meals are well balanced with grains, protein, and vegetables. I hope you get inspired and give a try to the vegan box. For more information check https://veganbox.nl

Vegan Dishes To Make This Autumn

Hello Autumn, hello comfort food. My favorite season is here. In order to make this season a little bit more sustainable, let’s use as much as possible fresh ingredients that come from the region. September, October, and November is the best season to eat pumpkin, squash, cabbage, sweet potatoes, carrots, and Brussel sprouts. Although tomatoes and cucumbers can still be grown in Dutch greenhouses in an energy-efficient manner, most greenhouse products are more polluting for the environment than vegetables and fruits that grow in the open air. The best and cheapest is to eat products that are grown on Dutch soil. Here are some easy recipes you can make this season:

Pumpkin soup with ginger

Eating pumpkin is very healthy. Pumpkin is rich in fiber, potassium, and vitamin C. Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Favorite Eco-Products From May

Since I started to care more about the products I use, I have been collecting different eco-brands and trying them out. Every month on this new blog series, I will show you my favorite products. It’s time to promote the best eco-friendly products which are encouraging us to think a little greener about our consumption and to protect the environment. Here are the products I tried in May:

Natural deodorant

Creme deodorant from The Ohm Collection
Last year, I discovered this Dutch brand and I have been a fan since. I tried their powder deodorant ‘no sweat’ and like it a lot. This spring they released a new line of creme deodorants, I immediately wanted to try it out. I chose the smell of orange blossom. The ingredients are all certified organic and the oils are all-natural. To use it, you have to twist up, put a drop on your fingertips and apply it on your armpits. You don’t need much: a fingertip will do the job. My experience with this one was very good. I like the soft smell of orange. This deodorant is free of synthetics and aluminum, it’s cruelty-free and vegan.

Washable cloth pads

Sanitary pads from Imse Vimse
These washable pads were my lifesavers during my post-partum time. The pads are made of 100% organic cotton. To use it, you have to place the printed side facing up and wrap it on to your underwear. The pads are very soft and comfortable. When I used them for the first time, I was surprised by the fact that the pads don’t smell so bad as the disposable ones. The pads can be washed in the washing machine at max 60°.

Qnoop sustainable socks

Socks from Qnoop
No more missing socks with Qnoop! Qnoop is an Amsterdam based brand of sustainable socks. The socks have a button in one pair and a loop in the other so that you can tie them and put them in the washing machine without losing them. I have the ‘Glitter Rib’ socks in pink. They are made of certified bio cotton. The button, to tie them, is hand-made of biodegradable material. The socks feel very soft. I like to wear them, to give my outfits an extra touch.

Dream cream Lush

Dream cream hand & body lotion from Lush
Lush makes products with fresh and as much as possible natural ingredients. The products are ethically hand-made and cruelty-free. They have a big selection of vegan products too. This time, I tried the ‘Dream Cream’. The cream feels light and is very good for a dry skin. It has a soft smell of chamomile. I like it because it absorbs quickly into the skin. It leaves my skin with a soft and smooth feeling.

Leather alternative quality shoes it is a relatively new product which makes it difficult to find in regular shops. Luckily I found the Dutch webshop “En-&“. The owner: Laura, started the webshop where she only sells eco and vegan shoes. For her, it’s important to wear fashionable shoes, that no animal was needed to be the harm in the process. If you are looking for a more sustainable pair of shoes, then En& is the place to be. After checking out their current collection, I listed out my favorite pairs for you:
