I can’t help but feel inspired when I watch powerful women own the stage during their TED talks. They all have an interesting story and are passionate to tell it.
To celebrate the International Women´s Day, here is a compilation of my personal favourite empowering talks by women.
1. The Benefits Of Failure by J.K. Rowling
At her Harvard commencement speech of 2008, ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling talks about our fear of succes. She offers her humble and powerful advice to dreamers and overachievers.
“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all— in which case, you fail by default.”
– J.K. Rowling
2. What Makes You Special? by Mariana Atencio
Mariana Atencio is a Venezuelan journalist. This talk touched me a lot, because since nine years I am an expat. I have lived in Germany and now I settle in The Netherlands. It´s been hard for me because I feel that I am “the different”. I found inspiration in Mariana´s speech and it motivates me to see life from a different perspective. It makes me understand that I am different, just like EVERYONE else is and that´s what makes us unique and special.
“The single thing everyone of us have in common is being human.” – Mariana Atencio
3. How To Live Passionately by Isabel Allende
Chilean author Isabel Allende give us some tips on how to have a wonderful, mindful life.
4. A Teen Just Trying To Figure It Out by Tavi Gevinson
Tavi Gevinson talks about modern feminism and empowerment for girls and young women.
“Women are complicated, women are multifaceted, not because women are crazy but because people are crazy and women happen to be people.” – Tavi Gevinson
5. It´s Time For Impulsive Journalism by María Paulina Baena
This last talk is in Spanish. By the fearless María Paulina Baena, a Colombian journalist who started a revolution with her video column “La Puya”.
I hope you enjoy them and get inspired by these powerful women.
